To mark World Consumer Rights Day on Monday, March 15, 2021, the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia, YLKI) invited Gerakan PASTI to take part in a virtual dialogue on the theme "Talking About Plastic During the COVID-19 Pandemic."

Throughout the pandemic, consumer behavior has shifted noticeably — from in-store shopping to online shopping. As many of us know, online orders typically rely on multiple layers of plastic packaging to keep products safe in transit. With that shift comes a shared responsibility: consumers, too, have a role to play in managing and minimizing plastic waste wherever possible.

The virtual dialogue also brought together representatives from government agencies, various organizations, and members of the media.

So let's be smarter about the plastic we use — take the time to understand the different types available, and always choose the more environmentally friendly option. Becoming "plastic-wise" starts with a genuine shift in behavior, and that shift is what truly defines a responsible consumer.
